Spain is the dream.
The paperwork isn't.

The paperwork is handled. Nothing in Spain's standard immigration process requires a gestor — answer a guided questionnaire, compare the official requirements for each route, and get your complete filing package prepared, ready to print and sign. You make the decisions; we prepare the documents.

Who this is for

Three ways in. One is yours.

A guided questionnaire walks you through the official requirements for each route in minutes — these are the most common.

View over a Spanish city from a high terrace
Digital Nomad Visa

The remote worker

Employed abroad, working from a terrace in Valencia. Income from €2,849/month qualifies. The hard part is your employer's paperwork — we draft it.

Non-Lucrative Visa

The retiree

Living on pensions or passive income — €28,800/year for one person. No work for Spanish companies, and the Mediterranean pace you came for.

Entrepreneur visa

The entrepreneur

Building something in Madrid or Barcelona. Innovative plans go the entrepreneur route; traditional businesses, self-employment. The official criteria for both, laid out honestly — so you decide with confidence.

Straight answers

What we do — and what we don't.

We do ✓

  • Prepare every document you're legally allowed to file yourself — which is all of the standard process.
  • Show you where your file falls short of the official thresholds — and what to fix first.
  • Reduce your gestor bill even if you use one: we prepare a clean dossier your gestor works from.

We don't ✕

  • Decide for you. You choose your route from the official criteria; only Spanish authorities decide applications.
  • Guarantee approval. Nobody can. Anyone who guarantees a visa is lying to you.
  • Replace sworn translators or notaries. You hire them directly; we show you the official list.
  • Give formal legal or tax opinions. Complex cases need a lawyer, and we'll say so immediately.

Questions

Is this legal advice?

No. Xpat Spain is a self-help document preparation and information service — think tax software, for Spain's immigration paperwork. It shows you official requirements and prepares documents at your direction. You choose your visa route, and only Spanish consulates and authorities decide applications. For legal advice, consult a licensed lawyer.

Is it really legal to file without a gestor?

Yes. Nothing in Spain's standard immigration process legally requires a gestor or lawyer. Applicants file personally every day. What gestors sell is knowing the process; that's what your package contains.

How much income do I need for the Digital Nomad Visa?

As of mid-2026: €2,849/month for the main applicant, plus €1,068/month for the first dependent and €356 for each additional. Thresholds change with Spain's minimum wage — the questionnaire always shows current figures.

I'm a US W-2 employee. Can I actually get approved?

Yes — when the employer authorization is clearly documented and the company has operated at least a year. The two stall points are the employer letter and the SSA certificate of coverage. Start both early.

Can I get residency by buying property?

No. Spain's Golden Visa ended in April 2025. Buying property does not grant residency.
